Statement of Faith
I. The Scriptures
We believe in the verbal (every word) and plenary (complete) inspiration of the Old and New Testaments; that they are the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be tried.
II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21
II. The Godhead
We believe in one God, the Creator and supreme ruler of the universe, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-equal in every divine perfection.
II Corinthians 13:14, Deuteronomy 6:4
GOD THE FATHER: We believe in God the Father, perfect in holiness, boundless in love, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power. We believe He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, hears and answers prayers, and that He saves from sin and eternal death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ His Son.
Genesis 1:1, Exodus 3:14-15
GOD THE SON: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We believe Him sinless in nature and life, infallible in His teaching, making atonement for the sins of the world by His substitutionary death on the cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His perpetual intercession for His people, and His literal, physical and glorious second coming to earth to reign
John 1:1-2,14; Romans 3:24-25,
I Peter 2:24, I Thessalonians 4:13-18
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe in the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit. We believe He was active in creation, convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgement, regenerates men, and baptizes all believers into the Body of Christ. We believe He seals, endues, guides, teaches, sanctifies, and helps believers.
John 14:16-17, Genesis 1:1-3, John 16:8-11
III. Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is eternal separation from God in the Lake of Fire. We believe that all mankind are sinners by nature and by choice and are utterly unable to remedy their lost condition through their own efforts.
Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 3:22-23,
Ephesians 2:1-3, Revelation 19:11-15
IV. Satan
We believe in the personality of Satan, once a holy angel who fell through pride and drew after him a host of angels. He is now the arch enemy of God, the tempter of man, and the unholy god of this world. We believe he and his angels (demons) are bound for final defeat at the hands of Christ and to the judgment of an eternity in the Lake of Fire.
Isaiah 14:12-15, Ezekiel 28:14-17, Jude 1:6,
Revelation 20:10, Matthew 25:41
V. Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God provided by His grace through Jesus Christ’s substitutionary and atoning death upon the cross. We believe that all who receive Him by faith as their personal Savior are justified on the ground of His shed blood and resurrection from the dead, are born again by the Holy Spirit, and thereby become the children of God.
John 3:5, 1:12, 3:18, 3:36;
Ephesians 2:8-9, I Peter 1:18-19
VI. Creation
We believe that God directly created all things in seven literal twenty-four hour days as recorded in Genesis. We further believe that this creative act of God included man and that he did not arise as the result of any evolutionary process.
Genesis 1:1, 11, 24; 2:21-23,
Hebrews 11:3, John 1:3
VII. The Church
We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ, that it is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again believers. We believe the local church is the visible representation of the Body of Christ, and is a company of baptized believers associated for worship, study of the Word, fellowship, service, and the proclamation of the Gospel. We believe that God is using the local church as His primary means of accomplishing His work in this age.
Ephesians 1:22-23, 5:25-27, I Corinthians 12:14
VIII. Church Ordinances
We believe God has committed to the Church two ordinances: Baptism and The Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian Baptism for a believer is immersion in water and is a necessary act of obedience for the Christian. We believe its purpose is to picture the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and our participation in those acts with Him by faith. We believe the Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection; that it is to be a time of self-examination and is to be open to all obedient Christians.
Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 6:4-5,
I Corinthians 11:23-28
IX. Eternal Security of Believers
We believe that all the redeemed, once genuinely saved, are kept by God’s power and are secure in Christ forever.
John 6:37-40, John 8:31-32, John 10:27-30,
I Peter 1:18-19, Hebrews 1:14, I John 2:19,
Matthew 13:19-21, I Peter 1:5, Romans 8:35-39
X. Separation
We believe that all the saved should live a life separate from anything that would bring reproach to the name of Christ.
We believe that true Christians should separate themselves from all forms of apostasy and religious compromise.
II Timothy 3:1-5, II John 8-11,
I John 2:15-17, II Corinthians 5:19-20
XI. The Eternal State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved unto eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment in the Lake of Fire.
Matthew 25:46, John 5:28,29,
John 11:25,26, Revelation 20:5-6,12,13
We believe that the spirits of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord where they in full consciousness await the First Resurrection where soul and body will be reunited.
Luke 23:43, Revelation 20:4-6,
Philippians 1:23, 3:21, I Thessalonians 4:16-17
We believe that the spirits of the unsaved, after death, remain in conscious suffering until the Second Resurrection when body and soul will be reunited for eternal judgment.
Luke 16:19-26, 25:41-45, II Thessalonians 1:7-9,
Jude 1:7, Revelation 20:11-15
XII. Ministry of Spiritual Gifts
We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowment of spiritual gifts through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. We further believe that the various sign gifts such as tongues, healing, and miracles, gradually ceased as the New Testament scrolls were completed and that these gifts are no longer in existence today.
I Corinthians 12:4-11, II Corinthians 12:12,
Ephesians 4:7-12, Hebrews 2:4
We believe that God does hear and answer that prayer of faith for the sick and afflicted, within the limits of His own will.
John 15:7, I John 5:14-15, James 5:15
XIII. The Second Coming of Christ
We believe in the personal, literal, and imminent, pretribulational and premillennial coming of the Lord in the air for His saints; and in His return to earth seven years later, with His saints to establish His millennial Kingdom.
I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Zechariah 14:4-11,
Revelation 19:11-16, Revelation 20:1-6
XIV. Missions
We believe it is the obligation of the saved to bear witness, by life and words, to the lost of the salvation available to them through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. We believe that it is the duty and privilege of the local church to further the spreading of the Gospel around the world.
Matthew 28:18-20, I Corinthians 15:1-3,
Acts 1:8, II Corinthians 5:19-20
XV. Positional Statement
This church unashamedly takes the traditional independent Fundamental, Baptist position.
